Grantmaking Overview
Grants distributed by the Wyoming Catholic Ministries Foundation (WCMF) are either donor-directed or WCMF-directed.Recipients of donor-directed grants are either identified by the founding donor of an endowment and restricted to those charities in perpetuity; or are recommended in real time by the advisor of a donor advised fund.
Recipients of WCMF-directed grants — also referred to as ”discretionary grants” — are identified by WCMF. Through our discretionary grantmaking, we strive to be a catalyst for strength and vitality in our Catholic community.
*Note: WCMF operates on a July 1 – June 30 fiscal year.
*Our ability to award grants depends on the earnings available for specific endowed funds. The Foundation's spending policy allows grant awards totaling no more than 4% of a rolling, quarterly average over the preceding 3 years.

What We Support

WCMF accepts and considers requests from:- Catholic Parishes in Wyoming
- Six-Catholic Schools (Casper, Gillette, Cheyenne, Sheridan, Rock Springs and Riverton)
- St. Joseph's Children's Home
- Catholic Charities of Wyoming
- St. Joseph's Society (Retired Clergy)
- The Diocese of Cheyenne
- Saint Paul's Newman Center
- Catholic entities or programs supported by and originating in the Diocese of Cheyenne

Requests for these purposes will be denied. - Organizations not supported or endorsed by the Diocese of Cheyenne or not serving an identifiable Catholic population
- Fundraising events or activities
- Debt reduction
- Endowments
- Tuition or scholarships for employees pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees
- Funding more than one year of a program’s costs
- Normal operating costs (salaries, benefits, etc)
- Political organizations or lobbying efforts
- Reimbursement for programs or projects underway or completed
- Organizations outside of Wyoming.

Guidelines for Qualified Applicants

Parishes & Independent Catholic Entities
Funds can be used for:
- Registration fees, seminar/conference costs, and travel
- Certificate programs or training as part of a new ministry program or larger effort
- Equipment/Capital ($10,000 limit – Excluding the Cles Fund for senior housing)
Application and reports:
- Parishes – Must be approved by pastor
- Independent 501©(3) – Must have Pres./Chairman approval
- Final Report – Within 6 months of the conclusion of the project and/or the expenditure of WCMF funds.
- Ineligible for future funds until report is submitted.

WY Catholic Schools
Funds can be used for:
- Facilities
- Equipment & Technology
- Student Material Fees
- Curriculum/Software
Application and reports:
- Submitted by Principal or School President
- Parish Schools must have pastor approval
- Independent 501©(3) must have Pres./Chairman approval
- Final Report – Within 6 months of the conclusion of the project. and/or the expenditure of WCMF funds.
- Ineligible for future funds until report is submitted.
